For My Dad, Christopher
On Windsor’s west side, your story began,
With puppy-dog eyes and a gentle hand.
A smile so bright, it could light the day,
A heart of gold that showed the way.
Behind the wheel, the highways called,
A transport driver who gave it his all.
Yet peace you found where waters flow,
Fishing rod in hand, letting troubles go.
On the green, with a club in your grip,
Or camping nights by a fire’s flick,
Red Wings games with cheer so true,
Life’s simple joys were a part of you.
You leave us now, but love remains,
Through laughter, memories, joy and pain.
Your mother, Joyce, and brother too,
Your daughter, granddaughter — we’ll carry you.
With Pam beside, and nieces near,
Your presence lingers, ever clear.
Though miles may part us, and time may fade,
Your smile, your spirit, will never stray.
