Obituary of Manuel "Jhun" Romero Dela Cruz Jr.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Manuel surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 18^th, 2025 at the age of 67. Reunited with his loving parents Manuel Dela Cruz Sr. and Celia Dela Cruz. He is survived by his only cherished son Jake Dela Cruz (Shana Dowdell). Loving siblings Ramon “Chitt” Dela Cruz, Lito Dela Cruz (Cherry), and Rowena Dela Cruz (Jason). Adored uncle to Shawn Dela Cruz. Manuel will be missed by many relatives in Portland Oregon, Philippines, New Zealand and Windsor Ontario.

Manuel was born in Manila, Philippines in 1958. As a young man he worked as a Machinist in the Philippines and moved to Canada in 1980. This is where Manuel was able to sponsor his families move to Canada.

 He worked at Windsor Match Plate for over 20 years. He eventually retired through Manor Tool & Die Ltd.
 

He enjoyed golf, bowling, and especially fishing. He was known for his dry sense of humour. He also loved to share his favourite seafood when he found a good sale, such as snow crab or fish to families and friends.

Every Christmas, he never fails to bring his trademark fruit basket from Remark.
 

Manuel was born and baptized as a Roman Catholic and always kept his faith strong with Jesus Christ. He is now comforted with the Lord’s embrace.

Jhun was a kind of person who helps others without hesitation. Kindness comes naturally to him, and he genuinely cares about people.

Cremation has taken place, a celebration of life for Manuel will be held at a later date.
