Obituary of Walter Michael Procyk
It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Michael Procyk, on September 9, 2022 at 79 years of age, with family by his side.
An avid storyteller his tale begins in Hucaliwci, Ukraine on July 27, 1943. Six years later he immigrated to Canada with his family. In his teenage years, he took up the trade of Welding and excelled within his trade area as a high pressure pipe welder. He travelled and worked across Canada on many large scale construction projects. His most notable having worked a thousand feet in the air constructing the Peko crane in Castlegar, B.C. An intelligent, hard working, and lifelong learner, Walter would attend Teacher’s College and later earned his Bachelor of Arts. An esteemed and respected tradesmen, he excelled in multiple trade areas including welding, iron working and pipefitting. While working for the GECDSB as a technical teacher, he applied his trade knowledge teaching, mentoring and influencing countless tradespersons both locally and within Canada.
He leaves behind his loving wife Marilyn (nee Grey) just shy of 58 years together, his two boys Kris (Jenny) and Nick (Ann), grandchildren Athena, Arianna, Glenn and Tyler, as well as great granddaughter Emma.
A true Cossack, and horseman, Walter was a man of strong personality and character. He was a committed family man, and enjoyed his time on the lake, a good drink and sharing all his experiences and stories with his family and friends.
A true legend, you are gone but will never be forgotten. Your story is not done, just on to the next chapter.
Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Cremation Society of Windsor & Essex County, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor (519-969-5449).
